About Tennis History

An independent guide to the history of Australian tennis.

Tennis History tells the story of Australian tennis: its champions, from Norman Brookes and Rod Laver to Margaret Court, Evonne Goolagong Cawley and Ash Barty, the Australian Open and its venues, and the Davis Cup.

The story of this domain

tennishistory.com.au previously hosted a personal blog about Australian tennis history. That site stopped operating, and Tennis History was relaunched in 2026 as an independent reference guide. We are not connected with the previous author or with Tennis Heritage Australia, and we have not copied any of the previous site's content. Every page has been written from scratch. We are not connected with the previous operator of this domain.

We are not an official website

Tennis History is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Tennis Australia, the Australian Open, the ITF, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, any club, any player or their representatives, or any business with a similar name. Player names are used for historical reference only.

How we research

We base our guides on official sources, including encyclopaedic references, official tournament and governing-body records, and published histories. Each guide lists its sources and the date it was last checked. We do not invent statistics, prices or quotes. Opening hours, fees and closures change often, so we point you to the official page rather than repeating details that may go out of date.

How we are funded

Nobody can pay to change our guides. Some pages may carry clearly labelled affiliate links for tours, accommodation or gear, or labelled sponsored placements. Our editorial policy explains how we make money.
